Practically all the world’s governments are attempting to support their economies with stimulus packages in order to avert high levels of unemployment and the social disruption that would accompany them. Almost everywhere, these stimulus packages are being fi- nanced from tax revenues. In the majority of cases, the financial resources required are greater than the receipts flowing into the public coffers, with the result that public borrowing is rising rapidly. This dangerous development will impose a heavy burden on future generations because they will have to pay back the debts that are being run up today.

Bedeutung der Erneuerbaren Energien in der aktuellen Wirtschaftskrise
Gestern hat Umwelt- minister Röttgen die aktuelle Erfolgsbilanz der erneuerbaren Energien vorgestellt: Gegen den Trend der Wirtschaftskrise sind sie – Frau Kollegin Flachsbarth hat schon darauf hingewiesen – weiter gewachsen. Die In- vestitionen in dieser Branche sind im vergangenen Jahr auf knapp 18 Milliarden Euro gestiegen. Sie bieten bereits 300 000 Arbeitsplätze, allein 60 000 davon in der Solarwirtschaft. Kein anderer Industriezweig in Deutschland hatte in den letzten zehn Jahren eine solche Bilanz vorzuweisen. Das ist eine hervorragende rot-grüne Erfolgsgeschichte, die von Union und FDP nicht initiiert, (D) sondern anfänglich sogar bekämpft wurde
